Site preparation

This is how the 9th Street site of the New Jefferson Elementary School looked prior to start of construction work. The parking lot and playground equipment will need to be removed to allow the construction work to begin.

This was the handicap entrance to the performing arts auditorium and Central and Jefferson gymnasium.
These photos were taken before construction work on the New Jefferson Elementary had begun. A new improved parking lot will be built across from New Jefferson on 9th Street.
Houses were purchased by the school district to permit the construction of a new staff, parent and visitor parking lot along 9th Street across from New Jefferson and Central Middle School.

The purchased houses were given to the Muscatine Fire Department to be used for training purposes. The Muscatine Fire Department conducted a “Live-Fire” training event for over one-hundred fire fighters, emergency and medical service members from many surrounding communities and industries in and around Muscatine from both Iowa and Illinois. The experience provided essential training in controlled conditions in a burning structure.
